Annual Meeting Day

Today was our parish's Annual Meeting. We held one service, our meeting and a brunch in the Parish Hall. It started to snow around 9 o'clock, but we still had well over 150 people there by the 10:00 o'clock start of the service. This year we did Eucharist, then food, then meeting. And it was all finished by noon!

Many thanks to the ECW for the wonderful food. The hall looked great and the food was plentiful and delicious.

You will note in today's worship audio that we had to place the microphone among the 'flock.' So you will hear more individual voices singing and talking than other weeks.

Today's hymns included one that was new to the congregation from Wonder, Love & Praise, a supplement to our hymnal. As we got the audio prepped for posting, it dawned on us that our listeners might not understand why the way we sang the offertory hymn sounds different from the other hymns in the service. It was new to most of us - and especially those of us sitting near the microphone. Sorry about that, but we hope it will make you feel even more a part of our congregation to hear some of our individual voices. It is just as if you are sitting in a pew with us. Just give us a couple more times with this hymn, and we will get it down!

Today's hymns:
Opening: 135
Offertory: 757 (Wonder, Love & Praise)
Communion: 321, 653
Closing: 537

Epiphany II Worship -Audio Available

We have updated our worship page with the audio of today's 11:00 o'clock Eucharist service. The prelude and introduction to our opening hymn had some distortion. Rather than hurt your ears or cause you to think it is YOUR audio that has a problem, we have cut the prelude and most of the introduction to the opening hymn. We are sorry you won't be able to hear the prelude - It was a chorale prelude based on How Lovely Shines the Morning Star by Praetorius - but - trust us: the distortion is very UnLovely!

(We left you a couple of seconds of distorted audio at the beginning of the file so you can appreciate our dilemma!)

We will continue to investigate the vagaries of our sound system to see if we can reduce these instances of poor quality audio.

Today's hymns:
Opening Hymn: 7
Gloria: S278
Gospel Processional: 131
Offertory Hymn: 307
Sanctus: S128
Fraction Anthem: 333
Communion Hymns: 324, 439
Closing Hymn: 535

Audio Service Update

Thank you to those who responded to our question about whether to provide delayed audio of our weekly 11:00 Holy Eucharist on our website. The positive feedback we received has encouraged us to make this a regular part of our online ministry.

We have provided a link off our main worship page for you to find the weekly service. A service will remain available through the week and then will be replaced by the next Sunday's service.

We are going to remove last week's service in the next couple of days, so the link in our January 6th post will become inactive.

Audio Service Available

We continue to explore new ways to use our sound system. Although older, it is still a (usually) functioning system whose capabilities can be put to new uses. Today we experimented with a new method of recording the service. Listen to our 11:00 a.m. Rite II Eucharist for Epiphany - let us know what you think:

Is providing the audio feed from our weekly 11:00 a.m. service something you would like to see on our website?

Would you listen to it?

Please email the webteam [AT] stbarnabasfalmouth [DOT] org (email 'spelled' out to avoid automatic spammers) with your comments and feedback.

Lessons and Carols for Epiphany

Next Sunday is our annual service of Epiphany Lessons and Carols. The Canterbury Choir has been working hard on the music for the service, and members of the parish are cooking up a storm for the elegant reception that follows. Please join us for a chance to savor the Epiphany season. Tell you friends - this is a wonderful way to get to know St. Barnabas! (View or Print our flyer)
