The St. Barnabas Youth Service Corps is designed for youth in grades 7 through 12 and meets the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (see meeting dates below).
On the 1st Sunday of the month, youth will work on a year-long intergenerational project, Story Corps. Youth will be guided to prepare for respectful and thoughtful interviews of our parish's eldest members in an effort to share stories with one another, and to learn about each other in meaningful ways. These interviews will conducted throughout the year, culminating in a parish-wide dinner and presentation in late spring.
In addition to our Story Corps project, youth are encouraged to participate in church-related service activities throughout the year.
On the 3rd Sunday of the month, youth are invited to participate in BIG Questions, a series of discussions meant to affirm kids’ own relationships to these questions.
BIG Questions is a community of young people willing to share their ideas about things that matter. Youth will be encouraged to think about these questions in serious ways and do it together in a meaningful way. Questions will include:
- What is the meaning of life?
- What is evil?
- What is good?
- Why is there suffering?
- What happens when we die?
- Who or what is God?
- What is faith?
