"Prayer is key to all we do. Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you." (Matthew 6:6)
Intercessory Prayer / the Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain Ministry, an intercessory prayer group is available to provide intensive, focused, confidential prayer support for those in acute emotional, physical or spiritual need or distress. The prayer group members are committed to the power of prayer and the comfort it brings. The mission is available to parishioners, their families and friends. We believe that this mission is consistent with Christ’s compassion.
Susan Schmidt leads the prayer chain group that meets once a month. Prayer names come in to the group from many different sources. If you would like to be part of this team contact Susan.
Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.
Centering prayer is a method of silent prayer; it:
- prepares us to receive the gift contemplative prayer
- helps us experience God's presence within us -- closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself.
This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.
We are blessed to have a trained teacher, Pam Foss, who leads us in Centering Prayer. The group meets twice a month on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM in the Parish House. All are welcome. Please check the calendar for times or contact Pam.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
These prayer shawls, all unique, have been knitted, quilted or crocheted with love and care by members of our group. Sometimes we start making a prayer shawl for an unknown recipient and then realize we know exactly who should receive it. Our mission is to reach out to parishioners who are in need of comfort while going through a difficult time such as an illness, surgery, a loss or bereavement. It is our prayer that the recipients of these shawls and quilts will feel God's love and comfort as well as our love and concern.
- Join the Prayer Shawl Ministry at any time - they gather once a month and knit all the time! Please contact Ann.
